It's My Birthday! Let's run down my NFL picks

Yah, I was squeezed out some 32 years ago today. My mother remembers it vividly. Me? not so much.

Yah, that's right, I'm still younger than you.

But what's 32? Nothing major. No milestones there. Still, a week's worth of activities await me. Dinner tonight, dinner with the people who lived with me for 20-some years (also called family) tomorrow, dinner Thursday, was out for dinner with friends last Saturday, and then another friend's birthday party is Friday, and then it's Nuit Blanche on Saturday, which isn't birthday-related, but still fun.

Slow down? Hah!

I called the MGM Player's Club membership line today to set up my online login, once I verified my birthday, Amber wished me a happy one without a missing a beat. I'd forgotten (for the 5th time today).

Anyhoo... let's review my brilliant NFL picks from last week, followed by the winner:

CLE @ BAL - BAL - BAL - DING!
WAS @ DET - WAS - DET - WHA???
JAC @ HOU - HOU - JAC - sigh
GB @ STL - GB - GB - DING!
NYG @ TB - NYG - NYG - DING!
TEN @ NYJ - NYJ - NYJ - DING!
KC @ PHI - KC - PHI - sigh
SF @ MIN - MIN - MIN - DING!
NO @ BUF - BUF - NO - Buffalo hates me
CHI @ SEA - CHI - CHI - DING!
PIT @ CIN - PIT - CIN - WHA???
DEN @ OAK - DEN - DEN - DING!
MIA @ SD - SD - SD - DING!
IND @ ARI - ARI - IND - sigh
CAR @ DAL - CAR - DAL - sigh

8 right. An improvement over last week. The alphabet failed me a few times, and what the hell are the Lions and Bengals doing WINNING GAMES? I mean, the cats they're named after are awesome and all, but aren't they supposed to suck? Not that I know, I hate football.

Have a great birthday! Mine that is.

Gone Fishin'

I'm on vacation. 2 weeks off with not much planned. There was The Bash, which I will obviously post about. There was my birthday the day after The Bash, which involved walking around my fair city with my best friend and then having dinner with my family ("Chef's gone home, it's a slow night..." - I was tempted to ask if I could step in, but damned if I'm cooking my own birthday dinner). A day of not much happening, and then (please Kat, don't kill me) I went and saw Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds tonight, after Kat mentioned they were playing this week. Met the scalper out front, grabbed me some grub, and enjoyed a rocking show. My ears are still foggy and ringing. Tomorrow? Nothing planned. Friday? Late birthday drinks and dinner with friends. Saturday? More late birthday dinner, drinks, and then some wandering around Nuit Blanche (all-night art festival throughout the city) with other friends.

After that? No clue. Maybe Niagara for wine, maybe nothing.

In the meantime, I have a lot of blogs to catch up on.

Has it Really Been That Long?

Well, I'm not in Key West, and I'm not hammered (yet), but I AM 30 today. Has it really been thirty years since I came crying and gasping into this world? Strange... it doesn't feel that long. It's okay though, because 30 is the new 25. Yup.

Me being me, I went and organized a little birthday party for myself. You see, I'm a big believer in the "if you want something done right..." mentality. So tonight me, 29 friends, and 6 people who are guests of friends will be setting sail on a wee cruise around Toronto's harbour. There shall be drinking, and there shall be no escape. Before that there will be eating, and drinking, and still no escape. Afterwards, if all goes well, there will be MORE drinking back at my place, and sometime tomorrow I'll wake up and wonder when exactly I stopped remembering anything, and how everyone escaped.

Alternately, I may be the loud and obnoxious drunk wandering the streets and commenting without filter about the various art exhibitions around my fair city as part of Nuit Blanche (what the hell are they doing holding it on MY birthday? Huh?).

So I'm thrilled, and looking forward to this decade of... *snicker* maturity. Yah right. Another day, another decade. Whatever.

Oh, and fair warning for those who I have programmed into my phone - you may get a call, it may be loud, I may be drunk, and it will be a dial-a-shot. If you don't get one, it's not personal, I'm just too tanked to remember, so call me instead :). Assuming there's cell service out there.

I'm 30, I kick seventeen types of ass, and I couldn't be happier about it.
